Lonestar to headline Bay City Rotary Club concert

Country Music super group is currently touring and promoting the release of their highly-anticipated new album “Never Enders”

The Bay City Rotary Club has announced that country music super group Lonestar has signed to headline the club’s 17th annual Rotary concert later this year.

Lonestar will perform their popular hits, favorite covers and latest songs at the Bay City Civic Center on Saturday, Aug. 19.

Event and corporate sponsorships are on sale now. Reserved tickets will go on sale in June. Future announcements will detail ticket information and accommodations at local hotels.

“We are excited to bring Lonestar to Bay City,” said Rotary Club President-elect and 2017 Event Chairman Brandon Cox. “Each year we strive to produce a quality show that people across southeast Texas can get excited about. It’s an honor for us to be able to serve our community, and this annual event makes those opportunities possible.”

Known for merging their country roots with strong melodies and rich vocals, Lonestar is comprised of Richie McDonald (lead vocals), Michael Britt (lead guitar & backing vocals), Keech Rainwater (drums), and Dean Sams (keyboards & backing vocals).

The band has amassed RIAA-certified sales in excess of 10 million album units since their national launch in 1995, and achieved 10 number one country hits including “No News,” “Come Crying To Me,” and their crossover smash “Amazed” (which was also #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, the first record since 1983’s “Islands in the Stream” to top both charts).

The band’s awards include a 1999 ACM Single of The Year for “Amazed” (the song also won the Song of the Year award) and the 2001 CMA Vocal Group of the Year. Four times in the early 2000s, Lonestar was nominated for Grammy Awards for their hits “Amazed,” “Not A Day Goes By,” “I’m Already There,” and “My Front Porch Looking In.”

This year, Lonestar was nominated for a 2017 People’s Choice Award for Favorite Country Group.

With over 100 dates worldwide per year, they are celebrating over 20 years together. Lonestar’s highly anticipated new album, Never Enders, features ten new original Lonestar songs that bring the band’s trademark sound into the contemporary arena. Never Enders was released on April 29, 2016, and Lonestar continues to tour and promote its release.

Lonestar, all natives of Texas, tours out of Nashville, TN. To learn more about Lonestar, visit the official artist website at lonestarnow.com.

Past Bay City Rotary Concert performers include top national artists like Tracy Lawrence, Sammy Kershaw, Neal McCoy, and last year’s smash hit Robert Earl Keen who delivered a dynamic show to a sold-out crowd.

This year’s show is made possible through a City of Bay City matching grant covering additional artist fees.

In 16 years the Bay City Rotary Club has raised more than $400,000 in the concert series with proceeds supporting the local community and beyond through grants, donations, scholarships and service projects.

This year, the Bay City Rotary Club was reinvested nearly $50,000 back into the local community through various grants, service projects and scholarships – the most in recent history.

The Bay City Rotary Club, a non-profit club affiliated with Rotary International, meets Tuesdays at noon at Venezia’s Garden, 1300 Seventh Street in Bay City. New members and guests are always welcome.

This year’s club theme is “Rotary: Making A Difference,” and, among other projects, the Bay City Rotary Club looks to partner with the City of Bay City to plant 100 new trees throughout the community in the coming year.
